Multi Activity Centre - Official Launch, Jan 6th 2010
Charis Hospice’s Multi Activity Centre was started in Sept., 2009 and the official launch in Jan 6th, 2010.
The aim of the centre is:- 1. to facilitate interaction among patients and volunteers 2. provide suitable recreational, relaxation and supportive activities 3. allow carer time off.
The venue of the center is at 15, Kennedy Road (courtesy of Trinity Methodist Church). Day and Time: Every Wednesday from 10am - 2.30pm.




Hunt for Charity 2009
On 18th April, we held our annual fund raising cum publicity event, a “Hunt for Charity” to discover the heritage sites in Penang. A total of 58 teams enthusiastically vied for the prizes and the cars were flagged off from St Georges’ Church and end with a sumptuous hi-tea at Berjaya Georgetown Hotel.
It was a heart-touching hospice family affair over hi-tea as various song and dance items were presented by cancer survivors, families of patients and other supporters. YB Phee Boon Poh, the State Health, Welfare and Caring Society Committee Chairman, graced the occasion.
The fund-raising target of RM40,000 was attained through corporate and individual sponsorship and donation, entry fees and hi-tea ticket sales. The main corporate sponsors were Dell, Agilent, Zhulian and Berjaya Georgetown Hotel.




Seminar on Basic Nursing Care
The seminar was held on 27th Sept 2008 in Wesley Methodist Church, Penang.
The talk was very beneficial. It touched on basic knowledge and skills in home nursing so that the participants would be able to take care of their loved ones at home. It also gave them an idea on how to prevent complications and home accidents. There was a video show and demonstration by Dr Oo and her team of 3 nurses, followed by a practical session. There were more than 30 participants.
Charis Hospice 4th Anniversary Charity Dinner

It was a happy and auspicious occasion for Charis Hospice when she celebrated her 4th anniversary with a charity dinner held at Paradise Sandy Beach Resort on 9th August 2008. The dinner was graced by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Mr. Lim Guan Eng who officially launched Charis Hospice’s website.
There was such excitement when eleven cancer survivors, dressed in beautiful Malaysian traditional costumes, took the cat walk in a charming fashion show. Dr. Oo Loo Chan, the medical director gave a presentation ‘Introducing Charis Hospice’. One of the patients shared her experience on her journey in battling cancer.
The happy evening concluded with a lively auction and lucky draw. Two pieces of jewellery, a pearl necklace and a chain with a pendant, which had been donated were auctioned. About RM42,393 were raised through this function.
Dec 2006 - Christmas Tea for patients and families



On 2nd December 2006 a Christmas Tea was organized to bring cheer and joy to our patients and their families. It was held in the Grand Ballroom of E & O Hotel and generously sponsored by E & O Hotel.
